About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced, highly organised and detail-oriented AQIS Coordinator to join our client's busy transport and logistics operation based in Melbourne's Western Suburbs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of AQIS (Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service), biosecurity requirements, import container processes and associated compliance documentation.

Working closely with the operations, transport and warehouse teams, you will play an integral role in ensuring all quarantine-related documentation, inspections and container movements are coordinated efficiently and in accordance with Australian biosecurity regulations.

This is a full-time position offering Monday to Friday hours, a competitive salary and an immediate start for the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Operations Manager, your duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Preparing, processing and maintaining AQIS/biosecurity documentation and associated paperwork.
  • Coordinating import container inspections, quarantine requirements and biosecurity clearances.
  • Liaising with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF), customs brokers, freight forwarders, transport operators and relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitoring container availability, quarantine directions, inspection bookings and release statuses.
  • Ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and submitted within designated timeframes.
  • Coordinating container movements and inspections with internal transport and warehouse teams.
  • Maintaining accurate records of quarantine inspections, treatments, clearances and associated compliance activities.
  • Following up outstanding documentation, inspection outcomes and container release approvals.
  • Assisting with the coordination of fumigation, cleaning and other biosecurity treatments when required.
  • Ensuring compliance with Australian biosecurity regulations, site procedures and relevant industry requirements.
  • Identifying and resolving documentation discrepancies, delays and compliance-related issues.
  • Providing general administrative and operational support to ensure the smooth running of daily activities.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this position, you will ideally possess:
  • Previous experience in an AQIS, biosecurity, import/export, freight forwarding or container logistics coordination role.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian biosecurity requirements and import container clearance processes.
  • Experience preparing and managing quarantine documentation and compliance records.
  • Understanding of container transport, wharf operations and associated logistics processes.
  • Strong administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Confident computer skills, including Microsoft Office and logistics management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, external service providers and regulatory authorities.
Experience working within a transport, container logistics, freight forwarding or AQIS-approved arrangement environment will be highly regarded.

What's on Offer?
  • Full-time, ongoing employment with an established transport and logistics business.
  • Monday to Friday | 7:00am – 3:00pm – enjoy your afternoons and weekends!
  • Competitive salary package, negotiable based on experience.
  • Immediate start available for the right candidate.
  • Convenient location within Melbourne's Western Suburbs.
  • Supportive team environment with a hands-on operations team.
  • An opportunity to utilise your AQIS and biosecurity knowledge in a busy, fast-paced logistics operation.
  • Long-term stability and the opportunity to grow within the business.
