About the Opportunity
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected supplier to the Australian mining industry for an experienced CNC Programmer / Machinist – Milling to join their manufacturing team.

Currently based in Sunshine, the business will be relocating to Airport West at the end of July.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the manufacture of CNC machined components for tools, jigs and fixtures used throughout the manufacturing process, supporting the changing requirements of a diverse client base.

This position would suit an experienced CNC Programmer/Machinist or Toolmaker who is confident programming using CAM, setting and operating CNC milling machines, and producing precision tooling components from start to finish.

Hours & Rate

Monday – Thursday: 6:00AM – 2:30PM
Friday: 6:00AM – 12:00PM
Rate:$45.00 – $50.00 p/hr, based on experience and skillset
Key Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include:

  • Writing CNC programs using CAM
  • Setting up and operating CNC milling machines
  • Setting up tooling and workpieces and trialling CNC programs
  • Preparing and setting up workpieces ready for machining
  • Setting multiple workpiece coordinates and tool lengths
  • Selecting and setting appropriate tooling for each job
  • Monitoring tool condition and replacing tooling as required
  • Completing in-process and final inspection of CNC machined components
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and manufacturing specifications
  • Performing regular maintenance checks on CNC machinery
  • Troubleshooting and adjusting machinery as required
  • Operating manual machines when required
  • Assembly and maintenance of tooling as directed
  • Providing skilled support across the Engineering, R&D and Production Teams
  • Effectively managing multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining a high standard of workmanship
  • Maintaining a safe, organised and positive working environment
CNC Tooling Manufacture You will be involved in manufacturing CNC components for a variety of tooling applications, including:
  • Open cast tooling
  • Compression mould tools
  • Injection mould tools
  • Jigs and fixtures
  • Other specialised tooling components used throughout the manufacturing process
Exposure to or experience with EDM wire-cutting will also be highly regarded.

Qualifications & Experience To be successful, you will ideally bring:
  • Demonstrated experience in CNC programming and milling
  • Strong CAM programming capability
  • Previous CNC machine setup and operating experience
  • Toolmaking or precision manufacturing experience
  • Experience manufacturing tooling, jigs and fixtures highly regarded
  • Ability to confidently set workpieces, coordinates and tool lengths
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Experience completing precision measurements and inspections
  • Manual machining experience
  • EDM wire-cutting experience highly regarded
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within Engineering, R&D and Production teams
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality
